Boston Celtics star forward Jalen Brown is launching his independent sneaker brand, 741 Sneakers. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP wore his brand’s sneaker at Boston Celtics media day.
For the first five years of his professional career, Brown was an Adidas athlete but did not have a signature sneaker. Brown has been a sneaker free agent since his Adidas deal ended in 2021. Although he was never signed to the brand, Brown Nike sneakers, primarily Kobe, eventually took to removing the Swoosh. Brown had been publicly critical of the athletic giant, particularly since the company parted ways with Kyrie Irving after he retweeted the link to a movie the Jewish community did not like.
He called out the brand, as we have on this platform as well, for their selective morality, as they quickly decided to cut ties with Irving, but decided to stand with Hope Solo and Brett Favre, who committed actual crimes. Brown also speculated that the brand played a role in his mystifying omission from the U.S. Men’s National Team.
The brand’s debut model, the “Black Moon” Rover is currently available for pre-order and will ship in late November. They carry a 200 USD sticker price in men’s sizing and 70 USD in big kids.
